I know that she offers books for therapists as well, and I hope that they're better than this but I'm not convinced that it would be a good investment. This book has shown me a lot of the why's and now how to repeat my child hood memories. I come from a family that thought they had Native American in them and only find one we don't, but we were brought up thinking and learning that way. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Silver Moon Sailor -- Not bad for an introductory text. : I prefer Paul Francis and Michael Harner as sources for core shamanic practices. The author seems rather muddled about the lower world which is quite an important problem. Other authors maintain and my experience supports that the lower world is a completely safe place if we can go into it without fear and if we follow practices that ensure we are properly in the lower world in the first place. Christa has some good ideas for therapy and a lot for the medicine wheel. Well written and concise. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 22, 2018 )

The book is written in a clear and easy to read format. I love the practical exercises which have given me the confidence to embark on the development of my own Shamanic force; which until now felt too mysterious and complicated to attempt on my own. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from LB -- A very inspiring book : After buying Sandra Ingerman's Shamanic Journeying for Beginners, and finding it very clear and useful, I wanted to know more and found this book by Christa MacKinnon, which took me to the next step. It has a chapter about bringing the shamanic dimension into everyday life including how to create power objects, a sacred space, an altar, and also morning and evening rituals to connect with Spirit and one's Self. I have just reached the chapter on journeying, so haven't finished it yet. But I suspect that the rest of the book will be just as inspiring.
